Job Description

The Assistant Construction Superintendent - Low Voltage serves as the Company’s technical representative, ensuring low-voltage projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards. The ASC-LV provides expertise in the design, installation, integration, and troubleshooting of low-voltage systems. This role supports project planning, constructability reviews, scheduling, material coordination, and quality control. They ensures compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and customer expectations. Working closely with project teams and trade partners, they help resolve technical challenges and drive successful project outcomes. The position also serves as a subject matter expert for integrated building systems and related technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety is properly incorporated into job planning and execution by enforcing policies and actively participating in all safety-related functions, including reviewing low-voltage system installation activities for compliance with project safety requirements.
  • Create AHAs/STAs with Foremen for all self-performed work and review AHAs for trade partners performing low-voltage and technology systems work.
  • Coordinate technology-related design and construction efforts, material needs, RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings with project teams to meet constructability, quality, financial, and technical standards.
  • Engage in project scheduling activities, maintain a four-week look-ahead schedule, and coordinate system installation milestones, testing, and commissioning activities with project teams and trade partners.
  • Coordinate and supervise assigned work activities while facilitating the scheduling and coordination of trade partners involved in structured cabling, communications, security, audiovisual, and other low-voltage systems.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, quality records, installation documentation, system testing results, and closeout deliverables.
  • Ensure materials and equipment are properly inspected, received, stored, and tracked, verifying quantity, quality, and compliance with project specifications.
  • Lead technical reviews and provide advanced troubleshooting for low-voltage systems, validating designs, installation methods, and system performance requirements.
  • Responsible for quality control of all low-voltage system installations, ensuring compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and customer expectations.
  • Serve as a technology subject matter expert, providing guidance on structured cabling, communications, security, audiovisual, DAS, BAS, fire alarm integration, and related building technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field, and/or a combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Five (5) years’ experience in commerical construction management (specifically for low voltage) or a related field required
  • Professional accreditations desirable
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to function as part of a high-performance team
  • Excellent working knowledge of construction methods, facilities operations and building systems
  • Familiarity with strategic planning
  • Ability to work collaboratively in mobile work environment
  • Software proficiency in MS Office 365 (Excel, Project, Word, SharePoint) and Adobe Suite) and report writing applications
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements

Light Work. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

  • The individual in this position will periodically walk, kneel, sit, crouch, reach, stoop, read/see, speak, push, pull, lift, stand, and finger/type. The frequency of each action varies by workflow and office activity.
  • Walking - The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, boxes, cabinets, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, phone, computer, and computer printer.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and external stakeholders regarding a variety of topics related to office administration.
  • Constantly computes, analyzes, and conceptualizes mathematical calculations and formulas.
  • Constantly reads written communications and views email submissions.
  • The person in this position regularly sits in a stationary position in front of a computer screen.
  • Visual acuity and ability to operate a vehicle as certified and appropriate.
  • Rarely exposed to high and low temperatures.
  • Rarely exposed to noisy environments and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field, and/or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
