Job Description
The Control Systems Engineer (CSE) is the subject matter expert for HVAC and Integrated Automation Systems technology. The CSE is responsible for constructability reviews, consultation, project management, and coordinating with clients on building automation and multi-discipline projects that include low voltage building systems and controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for automated network system planning, design review, programming, implementation, and issue management
- Perform more complex commissioning and system diagnostics from system level controllers to end devices and subsequent required maintenance
- Accurately complete all required commissioning documentation
- Issue root cause analysis and document best practices for improved future efficiency
- Report on graphics interface and system diagnoses using data and trend analysis
- Responsible for system and network bench testing
- Coordinate workload of control systems staff through all design and construction phases to complete projects on time
- Lead, train, and mentor Control Systems Technicians on control systems processes and procedures.
Qualifications
- 2-year degree in Applied Science in HVAC
- 3+ years’ experience with building controls in sustainable buildings of LEED Gold and/or a combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated understanding of HVAC (multi-functional and multi-zone) electronics requirements in Building Automation Systems
- Strong understanding of controls programming and graphics
- Knowledge of blueprint interpretation and point to point checkout processes
- Strong initiative and decision-making skills
- Valid Driver’s License
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Bachelor Degree
Physical Requirements

- The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and external stakeholders regarding a variety of topics related to office administration.
- Constantly computes, analyzes, and conceptualizes mathematical calculations and formulas.
- The person in this position regularly sits in a stationary position in front of a computer screen.
- Constantly reads written communications and views mail submissions. Will also need to read blueprints and take/verify field measurements.
- Climbing – Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding and ramps at various heights.
- Balancing – Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling and to walk, stand or crouch.
- Stooping – Bending the body downward and forward by the spine at the waist.
- Visual acuity and ability to operate a vehicle as certified and appropriate.
- Occasionally exposed to high and low temperatures.
- Frequently exposed to noisy environments and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
Education
2-year degree in Applied Science in HVAC.
3+ years’ experience with building controls in sustainable buildings of LEED Gold and/or a combination of education and experience.
Bachelor Degree.
