Job Description
Hensel Phelps Services is looking for a scheduler who wants to do more than update bars on a Gantt chart. In this role you'll own the planning and schedule-risk function across our Services lines of business — commissioning, low-voltage, and specialized construction — and build the templates, historical library, and reporting standards that make every future project start faster. You'll sit on our Operational Support & Innovation (OSI) team, where scheduling expertise meets systems and data work.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Risk Management
- Build and maintain project schedules that optimize task sequencing, logic, and resource loading across assigned Services projects.
- Identify scheduling conflicts and constraints early, model mitigation options, and drive workflow improvements with project teams.
- Track Hensel Phelps Services scopes — commissioning (Cx), low-voltage, and specialized construction — against the master Hensel Phelps Construction schedule, surfacing divergence and risk to project and business unit leaders before it impacts the project.
- Diagnose schedule impacts and root causes; partner with project leaders to produce recovery schedules and Time Impact Analyses (TIAs).
- Develop and maintain schedule templates by line of business to accelerate and standardize project startup.
- Curate a well-organized historical schedule library — benchmark durations, production rates, and sequencing logic — to support procurement, bidding, and future startups.
Systems, Data & Team
- Lead assigned OSI initiatives, applying advanced system knowledge, data analysis, and process optimization within your focus areas.
- Translate operational needs into defined execution tasks and technical solutions with cross-functional stakeholders; escalate risks and dependencies early.
- Facilitate working sessions — prepare materials, guide discussions to defined objectives, and document decisions and follow-ups.
- Set and enforce documentation, reporting, and system-usage standards so data stays consistent, accurate, and scalable.
- Safeguard data accuracy and system integrity, proactively flagging issues and recommending corrective action.
- Mentor junior team members through day-to-day guidance, knowledge sharing, and technical support.
- Run assigned workstreams with increasing independence, escalating strategic, cross-functional, and resourcing considerations to senior leadership.
Qualifications
Required qualifications
- 3–5 years developing and maintaining CPM construction schedules.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 / OPC; strong Excel skills.
- Demonstrated experience with schedule analysis, recovery scheduling, and TIAs.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract schedule requirements.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience scheduling commissioning, low-voltage/technology, or other specialty-trade scopes.
- Field experience and strong understanding of construction building processes.
- Familiarity with Power BI or similar reporting/visualization tools.
- PSP, PMI-SP, or CCP certification.
- Experience building schedule templates or standards for a program or portfolio, not just a single job.
