Job Description
The Technology Infrastructure Technician III is the field technician expert with Division 27 and 28 low voltage systems to by building, installing, leading other technicians, and assisting direct supervisors with integrate technology scopes of work projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and oversee telecommunications closets.
- Supervise and manage cable support systems–cable tray, j-hooks and ladder tray.
- Supervise and install cat 6 horizontal station cable, backbone cable, fiber optic cable and inner duct.
- Install special systems, security, CCTV, audio visual, and fire alarm cable.
- Advise and terminate cat 6 horizontal 4-pair work-area outlet (modular connector) and optical fiber (MM, SM, LC, SC).
- Perform copper splicing, fiber splicing (fusion or mechanical).
- Perform copper cable testing (UTP and coax) and optical fiber testing.
- Advise and perform both copper and optical fiber troubleshooting.
- Supervise and train other technicians.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Six (6+) years industry experience coordinating technology projects and/or a combination of education and experience.
- BICSI Certified Technician — Installer 1 or 2, Copper and/or Fiber.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Effective written and oral communications skills
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to function as part of a high-performance team.
- Working knowledge of facilities operations and building systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively in mobile work environment.
- Knowledgeable with software in MS Office (Excel, Project, Word, SharePoint).
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications:
- Manufacturer certifications
- OSHA, Confined Space certifications
- Minimum of one (1) years’ experience in services, construction, maintenance, and operations contracts.
Physical Requirements
Heavy Work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- The individual in this position will periodically walk, kneel, sit, crouch, reach, stoop, read/see, speak, push, pull, lift, stand, and finger/type. The frequency of each action varies by workflow and field activity.
- Walking - The person in this position needs to frequently move about the jobsite.
- Sometimes operates a computer or tablet and other office machinery, such as a calculator and phone.
- The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and external stakeholders regarding a variety of topics related to office and field administration.
- Constantly reads written communications and views mail submissions. Will also need to read blueprints and take/verify field measurements.
- Climbing – Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding and ramps at various heights.
- Balancing – Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling and to walk, stand or crouch.
- Stooping – Bending the body downward and forward by the spine at the waist.
- Reaching – Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction for various lengths of time.
- Grasping – Needs to apply pressure to an object with fingers and palm regularly.
- Visual acuity and ability to operate a vehicle as certified and appropriate.
- Occasionally exposed to high and low temperatures.
- Frequently exposed to noisy environment and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Three (3+) years industry experience coordinating technology projects and/or a combination of education and experience.
